Choose the marble around the room
For a living room, look at complete slabs beside your wall colour, furniture and daylight. A small sample can hide the amount of veining you will see across the floor. For a bedroom, compare the same selection under the warmer lighting you use at night. An entrance needs a plan for tracked-in grit, wet shoes and cleaning as well as a decorative layout.
Start with Makrana white marble for a restrained white palette, Albeta marble for natural movement or Dungri marble as another white-and-grey selection. These are trade selections: request current slab images and an agreed grade before choosing. The Makrana marble types guide explains how to compare the wider catalogue.
Plan your marble floor design
| Layout | What to plan | What to check in the stone |
|---|---|---|
| Straight tile grid | Tile size, joint alignment and cuts at the room edge. | Consistency across the complete batch, rather than one attractive tile. |
| Larger slab layout | Slab positions, usable sizes and handling access. | How natural movement connects across the planned joints. |
| Bookmatched feature | The chosen mirrored pair and its exact position. | Photographs of the actual matching slabs before they are cut. |
| Border or inlay detail | Border width, corners and the colour of contrasting pieces. | A dry layout or approved drawing of the complete pattern. |
The entrance floor shown above is a business photograph, with its original linked beside it. Its layout is useful inspiration; it does not identify the stone as a particular Makrana trade variety or promise that the same slabs are currently available.
Understand Makrana marble flooring cost
The marble price per sq ft is one part of the fitted floor cost. Obtain separate figures for the selected stone, cutting, edge or border work, packing, freight, unloading, fitting, polishing and any applicable taxes. Ask who is responsible for each item. This makes two quotations easier to compare.
Planning example: a 500 sq ft floor with an agreed 10% extra-material allowance requires 550 sq ft. At an example quoted material rate of ₹150 per sq ft, that is ₹82,500 for material. The rate and allowance are arithmetic examples; your selected stone and layout determine the actual quote.
Use the Makrana marble price and cost guide to calculate material from a confirmed rate. Do not treat a room's net area as the final slab quantity without a cutting plan.
Measurements for your flooring enquiry
- List each room's length and width, with a sketch of doorways and fixed features.
- Identify the desired tile or slab layout and any border pattern.
- Ask your installer to specify thickness, floor build-up and finish.
- State whether the quote should include cutting, transport and fitting.
- Provide the delivery city and access details, including the floor level and unloading arrangements.
If the rooms connect to stairs, compare the floor batch with the stair pieces before confirming. The marble staircase guide covers treads, risers and landings.
Finish and care questions before ordering
A polished finish changes the way light reflects from a marble floor. Discuss wet-area use and slip performance with your installer rather than judging a finish from a photograph. Marble is acid-sensitive; choose a suitable stone cleaner and wipe spills promptly. See the marble floor care guide for everyday cleaning and when to seek professional help.
Can I use Makrana marble flooring in every room?
Consider each room separately. Entrances, bathrooms and kitchens involve different moisture, spill and cleaning conditions. Confirm the selected stone, finish and installation details for the intended use.
Can I order flooring from a website photograph?
Use photographs to make a shortlist, then ask for the actual batch, usable dimensions and a complete quote. Reserve the agreed selection and record it before cutting and packing.
